On Saturday, May 3, 2025, a high-ranking delegation from the Russian Federation, led by Andrei Fursenko—Special Assistant to the President of Russia for Science and Technology and Chair of the Strategic Council for Science and Education—visited Shahid Beheshti University with the aim of enhancing scientific and research collaboration between the two countries.
The delegation included senior officials in the fields of science, technology, and higher education, among them: Elena Nechaeva, Deputy Head of the Department for Scientific and Educational Policy at the Presidential Administration of Russia; Feodor Voitolovsky, Director of the Primakov National Research Institute of World Economy and International Relations, affiliated with the Russian Academy of Sciences; Alexander Blagov, Deputy Head of the National Research Center “Kurchatov Institute”; Maria Matveeva, Advisor to the President of the State University for the Humanities; Andrey Bezrukov, the President of the Technological Sovereignty Exports Association; Alexander Likhanov, Director General of the National Champions Union and Program Director at Innopraktika; Pavel Volkov, Director of the Iran–Russia Mashalak Bridge Program.
During the visit, the Russian delegation toured several departments and research centers of the university, including the Research Institute of Medicinal Plants and Raw Materials, the Laser and Plasma Research Institute, and the Faculty of Literature and Humanities. They engaged in discussions with faculty members regarding the university’s academic and research capabilities.
A formal meeting was also held with Dr. Seyed Mahmoudreza Aghamiri, President of Shahid Beheshti University. In this meeting, both sides explored opportunities and challenges in advancing scientific cooperation, and emphasized the importance of fostering strategic relations in research, student and faculty exchange, joint projects, and technology collaboration.
The participants also reviewed developments in higher education and research over the past three decades and proposed initiatives to deepen scientific collaboration between Shahid Beheshti University and academic and research institutions in the Russian Federation.
This visit marks a significant milestone in the university’s efforts to expand its international scientific partnerships and reflects a strategic vision toward deeper global engagement and knowledge exchange.
