
Following the tragic incident at Shahid Rajaee Port, Professor Vladimir Litvinenko, President of Empress Catherine II Saint Petersburg Mining University, conveyed his heartfelt condolences to Dr. Seyed Mahmoudreza Aghamiri, President of Shahid Beheshti University, through an official letter.
In his letter, written in both Persian and Russian, Professor Litvinenko stated: "On behalf of Saint Petersburg Mining University and myself, I express our deepest condolences regarding the sorrowful incident at Shahid Rajaee Port. In these difficult times, we stand in solidarity with the Islamic Republic of Iran, with which the Russian Federation maintains strategic and mutually respectful relations."
The letter further expressed sympathy for the bereaved families and the people of Iran, while strongly condemning any act of violence that undermines regional and global security.
Saint Petersburg Mining University also reaffirmed the importance of continuing and expanding scientific and strategic cooperation between the two nations.
It is worth noting that Saint Petersburg Mining University, with a history of over 250 years, is one of Russia’s leading and most prestigious institutions. It ranks third globally in the fields of mineral resources and mining engineering. The university comprises 10 faculties and operates extensive research and technological facilities both within Russia and internationally.
